Go see a local PGA pro (no, they aren't all on Tour) and set her up with him/her... hopefully, when you sit down and talk to the instructor, you'll get an idea of how well they interact with kids. Luckily, May is Free Instruction Month! Some places only give 10 minutes, but you never know, especially if it drums up business...

Do yourself and your daughter a huge favor, take her down to the local pro at the golf course and arrange for lessons. Some courses have beginner lessons and some group lessons which are very reasonable.
You can rent some clubs to start and let her learn the basics and if she decides that this is what she wants to do, buy her a starter set.
Good luck, being a mom and dad is a tough assignment, been there, done that!

I applaud your efforts.

first off thank you for an interest in allowing your daughter to be in golf as many many people who don't play all have unjust biases against it. The first tee is a good program . Where abouts are you located , I'm sure myself and a few other top contributers would be happy to share the burden of research to put you in contact with the right people. In s.w. missouri we have junior golf clinics that provide basic teaching and provide all the equipment needed for such. They have a trailor loaded with junior golf clubs , and it is such a good program. Its on a donation basis too! They also provide scholarships to varies golf camps based on the youths level of interest and ability. My nephew started there last summer and has progressed into his own clubs. But never go out and buy clubs first. Have a reputable golfer who has extensive selection of junior equipment work with your daughter first , then you can go through the process of fitting and all that . Fitting is extremely important if you want the clubs that will work for your child . But if your daughter hasn't developed HER swing fitting is useless. But most of all stay involved with her learning the game , you'll both benefit. I take my nephew <cause my girls are still too young to learn> all the time but his momma wants nothing to do with it, its not good for them both. BEst of luck and Thanks again for your willingness to help her enjoy golf .

Isnt being a single parent fun? yeah right. i feel for ya. this is a tough one if youre not into it yourself. simple answer....most courses have a junior golf program. and nearly every public municipal course has one. call your local public golf course, and ask to speak to the pro or assistant that runs their junior golf program. they will be happy to spend time with you and get your daughter set up. we know that the future of our business is youth.

if you hit a dead end, im at teeboxghost19@gmail.com

good luck

check out,the first tee, its a program made just for kids starting out in golf. they teach all the fundamentals, rules, sportsmanship, hit balls, get to play etc,and best of all its all free, and they will even provide some clubs the kids can use.this program is awesome, this will introduce her to the game to see if she likes it. The first tee is just about everywhere.

With the problem on buying golf clubs most people think the more expensive clubs u buy the better u will be. unfortunately they are very wrong. Golf is about learning how to play with what u are given. i use to play with a set that was to big for me and way to advanced for my skill levels. So i would suggest for starters buy her some really cheap clubs at walmart and then you can worry about the rest as the year goes. Now as for making her into a great player and turn her into the next Michelle Wi u can take her to get lessons which on a good price level can go from anywhere near 50 dollars to 100 dollars, depending on who u go to. I hope this helped.

You should ger her measured for the clubs and buy a halfway decent set. Don't go crazy because she may not stick with it. Then I would get her lessons from a professional. IF you start teaching her and she picks up bad habits they could be ingrained for life. If she gets taught, and learns right, she will enjoy it for life.

PGA pros are expensive and could be a waste of money if she doesn't like it afterwards. Have a golf friend take her out to the driving range and show her the basics (you can rent clubs for as little as a dollar in some ranges). If your daughter's still interested, then you take her to the PGA pro for lessons, and anybody here can guarantee she will love it.

To be honest you should contact a local golf club. Talk to the pro. Ask about lessons. Don't splash out on expensive clubs first time out. Couple of links below for help.

Take her to the driving range or local golf course and just practise there. If you've never been golfing before then I would suggest buying one or two clubs, just ot get her started out, you never know she might not want to play after a while and then you will have wasted alot of money if you buy her the whole trolley because they are expensive. If you don't know the proper technique then you might need a professional teacher, but I went with my Dad who knew what he was doing and know we go regularly.
